About

The Indiana Cave Rescue Scholarship was founded in 2018 and made possible through generous donations from local businesses, cavers, and individuals who support the need for better cave rescue infrastructure in this region. We appreciate all of our donors who have made this scholarship opportunity possible for the local caving community!  If you are selected for an award, it will be used to fund a portion of the registration cost for rescue courses in which we open up to scholarship applications.

It is our mission to fund as many applicants as possible for caving related rescue trainings.

For information regarding skill and gear requirements for each level of seminar training

If you would like to nominate a local caver for any posted scholarships, feel free to email: indianacaverescuescholarships@gmail.com before the noted deadline. Nominees will be contacted by the Review Committee and encouraged to apply.

Must be 18 or older to apply. Priority for selecting scholarship recipients will be based on several criteria, including:

  • Proximity to Indiana’s highest density cave regions (i.e South-Central)
  • Involvement in local cave-related organizations and initiatives (grotto membership, conservation efforts, other related activities)
  • Likelihood of long-term commitment to the Indiana cave community
  • Financial need
  • Level 1 training applicants if applying for NCRC Week Long course

*Note: Applicants who have also received an NCRC national scholarship for the same training are ineligible

*Note: The Indiana Cave Rescue Scholarship is not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Cave Rescue Commission or National Speleological Society. The INCRS Committee consists of local cavers who are enthusiastic about rescue training and are motivated to coordinate resources for other individuals seeking to enhance their skills in order to contribute to the local network of safety-conscious and technically proficient cavers.
